Here we are in France. We’ve set the satnav to avoid tolls so it’s the slow road to each next destination.  Banks of wild daffodils, primrose and  cowslips have slipped past as  we trundle through towns and villages filled with typical french style.

There’s a great sense of things missed as we drive along. A petit chateau in ruins, a charming village scene, an intriguing land mark, they all go in the unwritten list of forgotten places to return to.

Meanwhile life in the van is a bit chilly at night and we wake up with cold noses.  It seems there’s been a misunderstanding. Mumbling and deafness are blamed.  There is no chicken in the little freezer compartment!

We took the van to the garage for a pre MOT check. Ouch! New brakes. Keeping Smug Cat on the road is hard on the wallet! MOT passed and we’re ready for the road.

We’ve buffed up the the bumpers, cleaned inside and out, stuck the sticky things on the headlights, filled up with water and gas and we’re almost done.

Next the packing and provisioning. The first thing that pops into my head is tea bags, three boxes aught to do it! Oh, and of course a swimming costume. Ever hopeful for some warm sunshine, but happy to brave cold water for the pleasure of a swim. Mustn’t forget the bananas!

We love to travel.  For us travelling opens the door to all the interest and beauty that is the world. We bought a van and converted it into our Smug Cat Camper to give us the freedom to explore. 2025 is our third year out and about and this Blog is our way of sharing our adventure.
